Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)
FDM is another method to developing rapid prototypes. This process uses filaments of heated thermo plastic through a tip that moves over the pattern of the part. As the first layer hardens the platform lowers followed by the filament applying the second and future layers. The materials used in this process are ABS plastic, UV plastic and Polycarbonate. Fused Deposition Modeling machines use a blue print to create models.

FDM prototypes can also be milled, drilled and many other cnc machining processes.

Rapid prototyping has fueled an interest rapid manufacturing when order quantities are to small for traditional manufacturing. FDM has all the attributes, to fulfill your rapid manufactures needs; accuracy, base materials and ease of use.
